What does a vent do?
Vents are used to allow a sealed device to equalise pressure. By preventing pressure build up & the reverse contraction, you can protect the product's seals, prolonging your product's lifespan. Changes in temperature create significant pressure differences. As sunlight hits your device the temperature inside increases as will the pressure, placing stress on the seals.  Conversely, as the air cools, that pressure can reduce, pulling the outside world into your enclosure.  The vent allows that pressure to equalise.

Condensation forms when your device is warm yet the temperature outside is cold - to prevent moisture damaging your electronics, the vent will allow the moisture to escape. As an example;  Vents are used on modern car headlamps, for these reasons, you are less likely to see a car headlamp with condensation unlike 10 years or so ago, where nearly every headlamp would.
