MIAs (Media Interface Adaptors) convert copper ports to optical. They are available in Multimode only.
They are available for Fibre Channel (1 & 2 Gig) & Gigabit Ethernet (1.25 Gig) applications.
Power is required by the MIA to drive the optical lasers, so the copper end of the MIA must connect directly into a copper port that can provide power.
